About Jennifer P Nikitin

My art is an exploration of resilience, identity, and the quiet strength found in the natural world. Working across painting, sculpture, and mixed media, I layer acrylic, textiles, and found materials to create textured, emotive pieces that blur the line between abstraction and figuration.

Growing up in Toronto, I am deeply influenced by the city’s contrasts—its urban energy and hidden pockets of wilderness, its diversity and its tensions. My work often draws from personal and collective narratives, touching on themes of memory, transformation, and the feminism. The tactile nature of my process—whether through brushstrokes, stitching, or assembling salvaged wood and metal—reflects a desire to connect with raw, organic forms amid an increasingly digital world. While living in rural Nova Scotia, I carry with me an enduring reverence for the land, which surfaces in my compositions through earthy palettes and references to natural cycles.

At its core, my work is about presence—the weight of history, the fragility of the moment, and the quiet act of endurance. I seek to create spaces where viewers can pause, reflect, and rediscover their own stories within the textures of the piece. Art, for me, is both a sanctuary and a call to attention—a way to translate the unspoken into something tangible, resonant, and alive.
